چکیده
Aim: The aim of this study was to compare the diagnostic adequacy thyroid samples obtained with 22-Gauge and 27-Gauge needles. Materials Methods: From January 2019 December 2019, 860 patients nodules who underwent ultrasound-guided fine-needle biopsies were included in retrospective study. results taken classified cytologically according Bethesda 2017classification. Sample rates calculated for each group compared using chi-square tests. Results: Our cytological reported as 157 (18,3%) inadequate materials (Bethesda1). There no statistically significant differences among achieved 22- 27-gauge needles (80.4% 83.2%, respectively; P>0.05). or permanent complication. Conclusion: difference between 22 needle sizes adequate sample. Prospective randomized controlled studies are needed examine relationships nodule, needle, patient dependent variables.

Ultrasound-guided thyroid nodule fine-needle biopsies--comparison of sample adequacy with different sampling techniques, different needle sizes, and with/without onsite cytological analysis.
INTRODUCTION The aim of this study was to compare the diagnostic adequacy of thyroid samples obtained by aspiration or capillary biopsy techniques, with 22 or 27 gauge needles, and with or without on-site cytological analysis (OCA). MATERIAL AND METHODS Four hundred patients with thyroid nodules underwent ultrasound (US)-guided fine-needle biopsies. Patients were divided into eight groups acc...
متن کاملFine Needle Aspiration Cytology versus Fine Needle Capillary Sampling in Cytological Diagnosis of Thyroid Lesions
Background and Objectives: Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is an established out- patient procedure used in primary diagnosis of palpable thyroid lesions. A modified technique fine needle capillary sampling (FNCS) obviates the need of suction, is less painful, patient friendly and reported to overcome the problem of inadequate and bloody specimens. The aim of our study was to compare the...
متن کاملAssessment of the effectiveness of local anesthesia before thyroid fine needle biopsy considering the size of the nodule
Background: Fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) is usually used to distinguish the malignant and benign nodules. Applying a biopsy needle evokes a sense of fear and pain in the patients. Although some studies refute the usefulness of local anesthesia (LA) prior to fine needle aspiration biopsy, it is still debatable. This prospective cross-sectional study intended to evaluate the effect of LA ...
متن کاملAnatomic Pathology / ADEQUACY ASSESSMENT OF THYROID FINE-NEEDLE ASPIRATION
Pathologists and cytotechnologists often provide immediate specimen adequacy evaluation of thyroid fine-needle aspirations (FNAs) to ensure that diagnostic material is obtained. We assessed the cost-effectiveness of this practice. All patients who had a thyroid FNA specimen accessioned at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA, during a 6-month period were included and divided int...
متن کاملEffect of nodule size on the reliability of fine-needle aspiration biopsy in thyroid nodules.
BACKGROUND/AIM To investigate the reliability of fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) in thyroid nodules and benign/malignant discrimination, particularly in large nodules. MATERIALS AND METHODS A retrospective analysis of 1466 nodules in 402 patients with thyroid nodules who underwent thyroid surgery was made. The pathologic results of the thyroid nodules from preoperative FNAB and postopera...
